Shopping IRL: I Went To Target And Found Some Killer Spring And Summer Sets (Amongst Other Things)

In another episode of “I Go to Stores and Try on Every Single Thing In Order to Show You My Favorites,” today I present to you a little local store called Target. Now, as you know I had an extremely wonderful partnership for over 8 years that grew, morphed, shifted, and changed annually (typical to digital/social media). While this post is completely unsponsored and we are not currently in contract, you can take the girl out of Target but you can’t take Target out of the girl (they were simply too good to me + their stuff is just so good + an unmatched retail experience). I will say that in the past I have found way more fashion at Target than I did this trip – I think their attempt to appeal to Gen Z is leaving some of us cuspers confused, but I think that more of a “me problem”. Anyway, Kaitlin, Gretch, and I went for 2 hours and I tried on a billion things. Here is what I found and loved (that I felt good in).

Linen Trench Coat – $55 | Vest – $25 | Shorts – $25 | Mules (not Target)

I may need to get an office job – all of these cute short suit sets (with vests) are selling me on a life outside of athleisure and mud clothes (I bought this one from Old Navy and LOVE IT). Now, this vest has more of a shape than the straight-shaped Old Navy set that I bought (and prefer) but the color and material of this light green set is so nice. I didn’t see a jacket that matched so I paired it with the best white linen coat that I ever did see. It’s a linen trench that I’ve worn a few times now and does exactly what it professes to do – give you that nice spring layer in a really casual and chic way.

Black And White Knit Set

Top – $21 | Skirt – $21 | Mules (not Target)

How cute is this??? Again, another separate set (not a dress) but so comfortable and stretchy in the best of ways. I’m wearing an XL skirt which is actually totally fine (not sure if a medium would be tight or not, TBH). I would style it totally differently (it needs some accessorizing for sure) but I think it’s very chic and cool.

A Great Button Up And Cargo Pants

Button-Up Shirt – $25 | Cargo Pants – $30 | Purse – $25 | Mules (not Target)

If you like boxy men’s-style button ups this is a great one (rounded in front, cute front pocket). Then while in the market for trouser pants (cargo counts) I tried on these, cuffed them and I was pretty darn happy. While I wore these exact pants in high school circa 1995, those front and side pockets were flattering then and are still flattering now.

A SHOCKINGLY Good Jumpsuit

Jumpsuit – $45 | Mules (not Target)

As you know the EHD team has always believed in jumpsuits (led by the jumpsuit queen Emily Bowser) but you guys this one is EXTRA GOOD (especially for being so affordable). The pattern makes it just so darn flattering (I find that some cling too much to my boobs and other areas where I prefer looseness. I’m not into a jumpsuit that’s trying to give me an hourglass shape). So I’ve been picky, opting for the more boxy/roomier jumpsuits (like Frank & Eileen, which is still my go-to but 5 times the price of this). This one is in collaboration with Future Collective and it is just so cute. It’s roomy but with a drawstring should you want to cinch her up. I was immediately sold and I’ve worn it many times both dressed up and down since I bought it.

Another Denim Shirt Dress – With Pockets!

Denim Dress – $32 | Sneakers (not Target)

I didn’t let myself buy this because I have a lot of these, but it’s a good one if you like the oversized denim shirt dress look. Just so easy to wear, with cute front pockets and side pockets (that don’t add bulk, which I appreciate). Also, those New Balances are the sneakers of the summer – at the airport yesterday I saw 5 women wearing them – FIVE. I mean, they are strangely flattering, cute, and graphic (not Target, obviously).

A Denim Jumpsuit

Denim Jumpsuit – $44 | Mules (not Target)

I know I JUST said that I don’t love jumpsuits that try to give you an hourglass figure (it’s antithetical to the utilitarian purpose of the workman suit), but this one had this nice blousy top portion that looked almost tucked into the waistband. I cuffed the legs because the legs were a bit overwhelming. I’ll be honest that I think this one would work better for ladies with more petite ladies. I liked it enough to show you, but I knew that I would opt for one of my roomier jumpsuits should I be in a jumpsuit mood so I skipped this one.

Another Great Linen Shirt/Short Set

Top – $25 | Shorts – $17 | Mules (not Target)

For beach, office, brunch – as long as it’s daytime or casual, sets like these win (I like them with flip flops, sneakers, slides, or a pointy heel, these mules are too basic for this outfit). It’s just good. The only reason I didn’t buy this top and bottom was because I preferred the pink/white stripe of the Old Navy boyfriend set sold here and here. But this pink and taupe set is super cute, too.

A YELLOW SUIT WHAT IS HAPPENING!!!!

Linen Blazer – $32 | Top – $18 | Shorts – $25 | Purse – $45 | Mules (not Target)

I literally laughed when I saw this set on the rack, saying out loud “Who wears a bright yellow suit??,” but I tried it on because the fabric felt nice. Then as I turned around to show Kaitlin and Gretchen how it looked and all of us were like, oh shit – YOU WEAR YELLOW!! Now, I do think it looks better on me with a spray tan (representing here) and I’d wear it with a more casual T-shirt, but I’m proud to say that I’m now the owner of a yellow summer suit!! Move Over, Kate Hudson!!??

Good High-Waisted Wide Leg Trousers

Shoulder Padded Tee (not Target) | Jeans – $46 | Mules (not Target)

Undeniably a great shape and a really thick denim which is nice to keep everything in place. These pants are kinda “sailor style” in fit. I loved how they looked, but knew that I wouldn’t wear them enough. The top is from Free People (Farm Rio) and perhaps I needed to size down in it because it’s a bit overwhelming (huge shoulder pads).

Clearly sets and jumpsuits are a thing this summer and we are absolutely here for it. Thanks, Target for delivering some dope outfits (and if you missed the same style try-on post from Old Navy head here).
